The reason for the revelation of Surat Ad-Dhuha

It was stated that the revelation slowed down from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and from Gabriel – peace be upon him, and in the two Sahihs: The Prophet, may God bless him, complained of illness, and he did not pray in prayer for a night or two; So the polytheists declared, “Muhammad has bid farewell,” and God Almighty revealed, “Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor”.

Tafseer surah duha

Al-Aswad bin Qays narrated hearing Jundub mention that Jibril was delayed in talking to the Messenger of Allah, So the idolaters stated, “Muhammad’s Lord has abandoned him” Allah revealed that verse:

(وَالضُّحَى – وَالَّليْلِ إِذَا سَجَى)

(By the forenoon, By the night when it darkens.)

In this, Allah swears by the forenoon and the brightness He has put inside it.

(Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor hated you).

(And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present).

This means that the Hereafter is a better place for you than your current residence.

(And verily, your Lord will give you so that you shall be well-pleased).

This means, in the last abode Allah will grant him till He pleases him about his believers, and in that which He has provided for him by His kindness.

(Did He not find you an orphan and gave you a refuge)

This relates to the fact that His father died while his mother was still pregnant with him and his mother passed away when he was just six.

Following this, he was cared for by his grandpa, ‘Abdul-Muttalib, until his death when Muhammad was eight years old, Then his uncle, Abu Talib, accepted care for him.

(He found you unaware and led you)

(And He found you in need and made you wealthy)

Wealth is defined by the richness of the spirit rather than the profusion of stuff.

(Therefore, don’t mistreat the orphan).

It means since you were an orphan, and Allah looked after you, do not abuse the orphan.

(And do not repel the one who asks).

Just as you went astray and Allah guided you, do not scorn the one who seeks guidance.

(And proclaim the Lord’s favor).

Meaning, tell about Allah’s favor upon you.
