How to perform wudu(ablution)?

Before performing Salah, every Muslim must purify themselves through Wudu (ablution), a physical and spiritual cleansing that is essential for prayer. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “No prayer is accepted without Wudu.” (Sahih Muslim)

Follow these simple steps for proper Wudu:

  1. Make the intention (niyyah) in your heart and say “Bismillah” (In the Name of Allah).
  2. Wash your hands up to the wrists three times, starting with the right.
  3. Rinse your mouth three times.
  4. Clean your nose by sniffing water and blowing it out, three times.
  5. Wash your face from forehead to chin and ear to ear, three times.
  6. Wash arms up to the elbows, starting with the right, three times.
  7. Wipe your head once and clean your ears.
  8. Wash your feet up to the ankles, starting with the right, three times.

Finish by saying the Shahada:

“Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasuluh.”
I testify there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His servant and messenger.

And then recite this dua:

“Allahumma j‘alni min al-tawwabeen waj‘alni min al-mutatahireen.”
O Allah, make me among those who repent and purify themselves.
